I honestly don't understand why we need online video resolutions above 240p. Now before you call me insane, try watching the same content once at the highest resolution and then again while lowering it all the way down. You'll notice that the viewing experience is largely the same, just with decreased clarity and more artifacting. To some people this is terrible but to me I don't really see the issue. Unless I'm watching something like a really intense art project or a 4K view of a city, having it set to a lower quality doesn't impact the visuals nearly as much as you would think.
Maybe I'm just out of touch but the idea of viewing media on the Internet in a lossless format or at "source quality" seems like a gigantic waste of resources. It's not even about phones, I've watched low resolution videos on my big screen plenty of times and didn't really feel taken out of it. Like on a base level you're still watching the same thing, it just eats up 10x as much bandwidth for not that much of a real benefit. But this is just part of the wider conversation I feel nobody is having, where we've forgotten that it's fine for things to be compressed because algorithms have gotten extremely good over the years. That's just my opinion though.

How the fuck do I write UI code? It feels like every time I write some non-trivial UI it always devolves into a mess of spaghetti and incoherent architecture. Adding something new? Time for some deep sea parameter drilling!
So how much worse is Windows going to get now?
